This is my first post on here! Just picked up a 1994 F-150 5.0 over the weekend. The vac lines were a mess so I’m in the process of just replacing them all. I have found several helpful forums. But I came across this goofy thing (see ? in picture) attached to the air pump. For the life of me I can’t figure out what it is or if the outlet/inlet (see arrow in picture) hose should be attached to anything? My guess is that it’s an outlet as the inlet silencer is the air supply source?

Yes! That’s it thank you! It’s hard to put something back together you didn’t take apart!

 

I got behind the motor to look at where it needs to be hooked up. I don’t even have the air bypass divert valve there as the hoses to it are cut and plugged. Is it worth buying the part to get secondary air system running? I don’t have smog testing here in Iowa.
