My tires came in on Friday. Picked up 5 of these. https://www.lucasclassictires.com/60...kwall-221p.htm Had a local garage install them on my rims. They make the truck look so much better, especially with the hub caps. Pouring today so couldn't take it outside for better pics.
That is beautiful! And you know I like the stock look. Can't wait for outside sunny day pics. We here in PA are just now getting the rainy weather you had.
Already have been cruising around town. Making longer and longer trips to find all the bugs in it. Found out I needed a new speedometer cable. the original was bouncing around and whining real bad. Was going to try and lube it up, but decided to get a new one from Mid Fifty instead. Also when I took it to the gas station to fill it completely up for the first time I had a minor leak on the fitting at the top of the tank, that I still need to work on later this week.
Also working on the paperwork to use a Year of Manufacture plate on it. I picked one up a few years ago, but haven't had the number checked yet to see if I can use it.
I got the new speedometer cable installed and I cleaned out and added a couple drops of oil to the weep hole in the back of the speedometer housing...it was a little stiff before I did so I should be good. However I haven't had a chance to drive it. The carb has now decided to start pouring fuel out the vent hole in the top, I had this happen before so I pulled it apart and blew it out and checked the adjustment on the float. However this time it didn't help. I don't like the idea of spending $50 for a rebuild kit not knowing it it will solve my problem or if I need a new carb. But I went ahead and ordered a kit from Mike's Carburetor Parts.
Rebuilding the carb It took are of the leaks I had. I had to put the old speedometer cable back in it....the one I got from Mid Fifty wouldn't work in it no matter what I did. But the old one works, and it no longer squeals. It still had the roughness and lack of power when accelerating but tonight I figured it out! I was checking for vacuum leaks...which i found none, then I decided to check for a good spark. I found that #4 was completely dead. I thought I had a bad cap or cable, but it turned out the lead was recessed too far into the plug and wasn't getting any contact. took care of that and now she has plenty of pep and sounds a whole lot better.
Thinking of driving it to my weekly golf league on Thursday. We call ourselves The Old Fogies. I'm the youngster of the group! They will probably appreciate it more than most people.
