Formerly located in Vernon, next to the Farmer John Meat Packing Plant. The smell was awful!
We had one of those in Tucson AZ years ago. When I-10 widened (again) and Grant Rd got the same treatment (thank you taxpayers and crooked businessmen) it had to close. When it was over 100 degrees (60+ days in a row) you would be rolling up your windows if you had no A/C and making all the funny faces. Even with A/C it was eye watering! Personally I loved the product!
I first read it in 1962 when I was at Leon Ames Ford in Encino. It was thumb tacked to the wall next to the front counter.
Were you ever at El Cajon Ford? I'm in the process of buying a 2005 Mustang GT, and it was originally purchased there. But I think that might be way South of you.

He needs no nudging in that way of thinking. He already thinks he is a God.
P.S. It's "successor" .

Actually, it was not a "quote" per se. It was using quotation marks to highlight or emphasize a word and when done at the end of a sentence, though there is some disagreement, the period usually goes outside the quote marks.

It also prevents Autozone retirees from staring at their monitors for hours waiting for the next line to be written. The "quotation marks" at the end of a sentence signify the end of a sentence.
Seems the thread digressed some and no one exhibit "Thin Skin", which happens frequent on the 97-96 forum. Perhaps it's attributed to our years and not letting things get to us that are insignificant in the grand scheme.
Getting back to the thread, back in early 2009 I purchased from the local Oxnard (Vista) Ford dealership a re-manufactured 5.0 L engine for my 1995 Ford F-150 and it has an aluminum gray colored "Re-Manufactured" tag glued to the block. I've been very happy with the re-manufactured engine, believe over ~ 20K miles have been logged since the engine been installed, not a single problem and uses no oil. Back in early 2009 Ford had an excess of inventory and were selling the 5.0 L engines for $1,900 and included a 100K mile warranty. A 100K mile warranty isn't even offered with a new Ford gasoline vehicles to this day (not sure of diesels). Not sure if it was Bill (ND) that commented a few years ago that Ford incorporated good quality control with there selected re-manufacture vendors, which is comforting knowing.
So, despite the location of the sticker, that's a GPD rebuild sticker, should be on the block, (Genuine Parts Distributors), I installed many many of them, had a lot of problems with them, oil consumption, cold piston slap, valve guide/seal issues, valve jobs not properly sealing or burning a valve in 3-4000 miles, oil leaks, head gasket leaks (until they went to perfect seal on the gaskets) I got to know the GPD reps well, even took a tour through the GPD machine shop, I will say though some were just fine, had one in my 79 F250.
I had much better luck with the Fred Jones rebuilds, they were a big U Haul rebuilt engine supplier.
This was also back in the early 80's and in SoCal, I would think other areas and more recent engines would be different.

1964/78 GPD FT rebuilt short/long blocks, one never knew if the damn things would be any good.
