I have a 1978 F150 with a 351M and I think the mileage is correct at 80,000 just this week. It has very rusty valve covers on it but still well readable is this sticker on the right valve cover that says “Authorized Ford Remanufactured Engine Parts”. So, does this sticker apply to the engine, the heads, the valve cover, or maybe it doesn’t mean anything? I sure wouldn’t have thought the engine had been rebuilt although it runs very well for its age. The PO didn’t mention a rebuild. Just curious. Here’s a couple of pics...

So answer this ND, what is the correct situation for THAT sticker to be put on a valve cover? Meaning explain the way Ford did it....way back then. Is there a situation where or when that sticker and what it says would or could apply?

When you bought a long block from a Ford authorized rebuilder, it did not come with intake/exhaust manifolds, valve covers, water pumps, P/S pumps and etc.
These 'accessories' had to be reused from the original engine. Since long blocks did not come with valve covers, there would be no sticker.
Someone took the sticker from the block, or off the packing crate, then stuck it on the valve cover.
Cool, so that sticker was put on blocks (long or short) after Ford re-manufactured them? And or it came on some packing crates too? What parts might be in that crate...yes I understand some just re-manufactured by Ford? I am tying to learn what the situation was for a "X part" to get re-maned.

If the engine had to be shipped to Hawaii or Alaska, it was crated. It may have been crated for other reasons, like if it was sent by an independent carrier to a rural town in MT or WY
If a long block, the oil pump was included.
These engines were not, repeat WERE NOT re-manufactured by FoMoCo! FoMoCo contracted with individual rebuilders who became known as Authorized Ford Rebuilders.
Here on the west coast, it was (and still is) GPD = Genuine Parts Distributors (aka Tumador Engine), located in the City of Industry.
Formerly located in Vernon, next to the Farmer John Meat Packing Plant. The smell was awful!
I was asking a question and still got a . Cool info anyway, you always have the most informative answers. Especially for the questions that have really OLD answers. lol JK
