Hey Bone, thanks for posting that link. I'm always up for finding new products and stuff I've never seen before.

OK I have seen those chargers and they are expensive but OSH was going out of business and they had 3 on the shelf cheap so I grabbed me one. I should have took all 3. I like the one I got.It has different modes for charging different batteries. I believe AGM is in there . I am not sure because I don't have that kind of battery.

The truck is supposed to do that. If you have a aftermarket alarm than that will be different. I don't use a battery tender because I dont let my truck sit for weeks on end like my Mustangs. I am not sure if you plug in the battery tender on one battery it would charge both. On my 68 I only hook up the tender the night before I take it out for a cruise. Since no electronic gizmos the battery is usually ok. Funny how that works. When the key is off, it,s all off

I just learned about the BMS a few months ago with my Fusion. I had not considered replacing a battery would become complicated in vehicles. I can't find any documentation where the 2011 SD has a BMS though and I'm on my third set of batteries without BMS type issues so further evidence mine doesn't have it. At least the eight hours option is available for those without the computer tools vs waiting two weeks to get a dealer appointment and pay those prices.

Our batteries are wired in parallel so a trickle charger will maintain both. Ford considers, at least for the 2011, the passenger side battery as "primary" so I connect it there. For dead batteries, I think the best option is to disconnect and charge each. For BMS controlled vehicles, there is a specific way to connect a charger so I wouldn't know how to charge a 2017+ without first researching.

Mine has been parked for 15 days, I should probably check on it.

I posted this request in the SD forum but thought I would post here as well. Any one have the PIDs and what to change them to with FORScan? Are there 2? One for the battery life and another for voltage? Or just 1 takes care of both? I’m terrible at digging those things out.

If you have a 6.7 diesel super duty you do not have a BMS. F150s and some Ford cars have them. If you look at the ground cables where they attach to the batteries you will not find a Hall style sensor which is what the BMS uses to measure load and state of charge.

Just unhook the old batteries and install the new ones. Nothing else is required.

Try telling the other guy that.

I still think he mis-diagnosed his issue but he doesn't want to listen.

Thanks guys - I must have missed the ‘misdiagnosed’ part.

7 days left - can’t wait

New batteries are in. Took almost 2 days. I took the "hooks" out and POR15ed them. Also took the bolts out of the battery holders and POR15ed them as well. Washed the battery blankets, some nasty colored water came out of them. Used toothpicks to get in the corners of the battery holders to get the crap out of the corners. Now that I've learned that there is no BMS in the 11 - 16's I've been putting a battery tender on the new batteries. I installed the pig tails when I put the terminals back on (I had already purchased the battery tender before Bone posted). Would like to find a spot to mount the battery tender in the engine compartment so I could easily connect it to power. I bought one of the 2 bank jobs. The only place I can really see it behind the front license plate. I don't think that would work, too much crap would get in the thing when driving in the rain and winter.
