Im redoing a 73 highboy and chasing some electrical gremlins around in the system. The issue right now is the emergency brake light stays on. The truck had awful brakes so I replaced the entire brake system except the master cylinder and booster. I have bled the system three times and gotten the soft pedal out. There is no switch on the Ebrake. Whats up ?
These trucks don't have a light for the parking brake. The light is for the brake pressure differential valve. It's a sure sign it's not centered and you still have air in the system.
Wouldn't it be incorrect when people refer to it as a proportioning valve? These trucks were four corner drum and the differential valve is just to show when system pressure isn't equal. The trucks with disc brake did use a 60/40 proportioning valve.

See 2B257 in pics. 15A851 is a parking brake signal light switch only used on 1979 E350 Super Van/School Bus (D9UZ-15A851-A).
If you take out the electrical part of the brake pressure switch from the proportioning valve there is a little "shuttle" that moves. It has a detent that will engage the switch and light up the light on your dash. You may need to take a tiny screw driver to move it back to center. It often does not return on its own when just bleeding the brakes.
