The trailer wiring connector mount has rusted out on my F250. Now the connectors are just hanging there. It appears the connectors can easily be removed as there is a simple clip on the back. However, I have not been able to find just the sheet metal mounting bracket. The only thing I have found is a complete bracket with both the 4 and 7 pin connectors already installed. Has anyone needed a new bracket, bought just the mounting bracket, or am I doomed to pay nearly $60 for a piece of sheet metal?
My local parts store carries some of these - if you have a Rural King/Tractor Supply near by, they probably will too. Might require some minor fabrication, but a lot cheaper than the dealer....
I actually like that myself. I wonder, (I could not find a direct answer), if the factory wiring will plug into their receptacle?
If your truck has the modular connector on the truck side of the 7 pin, then yes it is universal.
There are a lot of pictures on that link so make sure yours matches. E trailer has pretty quick customer support answers, but you should be able to look at what you have on your truck to make sure it matches with that piece. That exact 7 & 4 connector was actually original equipment on cab and chassis Fords for a while. You might find some "new" take offs on ebay cheaper.
Also some people have been known to Dremel cut the mounting slot in their bumper to fit that 7 & 4 receptacle into the bumper without the bracket.
Thanks. I saw their Q&A section and sent a note, asking if it was a direct plug in. Just got an auto-response saying I would receive a response soon. That is quick service.
