So I have a 98 F250LD and for the life of me, I cannot get the front rotor off. I've tried the trick with putting bolts through the caliper brace holes and it still won't come lose.
It's 4WD. I've tried a normal 2lb hammer and 10lb hammer. Still can't get them to pop off. Been hammering on them both for a few hours now and they just won't release. Thanks for replying. I'll try hammering more in the middle by the studs.
hit on the left a couple times... then the right... then the left.... your trying to get it to move a few thousands back and forth... an I normally have more luck hitting it out at the edge... easier to hit and puts more load into the disc.... You can clean up any dings after its off............ some spray around the pilot hole can also help.
I got myself a BFH and got one off. The other is more stubborn and won't budge. I'll try hitting it on the outside a little bit more. I got the other off by hitting it from under the truck outward and it eventually came loose. I have brand new rotors so I'm not worried about ruining the old ones. I have it soaking now and will try again in a little while.
Jacked up the truck by the rotor with jack stands to catch it if it were to fall. Then I did the whole screws through the caliper brace trick and it finally came off!! Phew, I was just about to give up on it for the day too!
