Clamp type froction sway comtrol should should be avoided. It just does not work well enough.
I still have the EazLift equalizer from when I bought my Prowler and it has the friction type sway control, works good for me. Just have to disconnect for maneuvering and parking.

Yes I know these are old but i'm a firm believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Recently I towed my trailer from PA down to the outer banks of NC. On the way down, I had encountered a sway feeling that I didn't expect. I used my on board telemetry to find out my rear tires heated and the PSI increased. During a vehicle fuel stop I checked the pressures with my air gauge and found the numbers to be true. The remedy was to remove a good deal of air from the rears and I went even further and dropped the fronts. Totally different feel and well better ride. The rears were aired to 75 PSI and the fronts 70 PSI. During the ride, the rears were at around 88 PSI. The fronts around 80. I dropped the pressure R 75 F 65 Return trip, I air up to 62 PSI all tires. Not a single issue with the drive. No sway. Once the tires heated up, they were right around 67 PSI. Everything perfect.

You can take my advice or leave it. Just putting it out there to help solve your problem with towing experience.

Not to sound like a know it all, but as stated on the sidewall, the tire psi rating are "cold" ratings. The temperature induced increase in tire pressure is factored in. You shouldn't need to manipulate the pressures after the initial cold adjustment.

To the OP, I used the
andersen hitch andersen hitch
. Its simplicity, low cost and low weight served me well. This is one of 4 different makes of WDH systems I have used. It was just as effective as 2 of the other 3.

The 3rd (and current) hitch is a ProPride. So far nothing has compared to that. For your application, that would be overkill IMO

Lots of good advice about dealing with the sway/push/pull you are reporting, but I'm curious how you plan to lower the trailer suspension by 1". What is the current setup and what are your lowering plans?

This is the Internet. My feelings are hurt! LoL J/k I don't have feelings... according to my wife. I completely understand where you are coming from and agree. I figured the same thing. However, I gave it a shot in attempt to fix the issue I had in ride quality. I know when I run the bike rack on the back of the trailer, I use water in the fresh water tank to add some front end balance the trailer nicely. What probably happened was the tire rode harder and dealt with road conditions harsher. Add in some payload in the bed of the truck, it got a bit more bouncy then it should have been. About the only thing I can could really complain about is the fuel mileage. Shouldn't we be getting 20 MPG while dragging a 9500 pound 36 foot sail behind an 8000 pound truck? I kid I kid....
