Looking for a good place to get my 2011 6.7 deleted. Not looking for any crazy performance just removal of the DEF and egr. Located in Yuma but willing to drive a little ways
Most places don't want to do this due to messing with emissions & possibly causing problems. I've also read that most of the time you gain literally next to nothing in power, from looking into this myself. If you still wanted to do it, they sell delete kits online all over that you can buy and bolt on yourself. Also keep in mind that after you do this your going to either need a professional tune, or a tuner to run on it so the CPU doesn't have a panic attack.
If I were to delete I would just get or make a block off plate for the cooler and egr and leave them there for looks. If someone comes to my shop and asks for any emissions deletion which could just be to remove the catalytic converter I would pass on that. I don't want the .gov in my shorts over something I can control. Most shops would feel the same way. We are not out to get on the wrong side of .gov investigators.
The mpg gain, less parts to break, and better daily operating conditions for the engine makes it worth it if your keeping the truck long term. It’s not about power increase...after taking the 450 to a dirt patch in Mexico fuel Econ skyrocketed was on a 6.4 which in the 6.4 in dpf clean mode it injects 7/8th additional fuel to create massive amounts of heat to clean the filter. My friends dad gets about 320 miles to the tank on his 250 platinum I think that’s pretty weak for a diesel. A lot of people also delete because there was an emissions problem and they saw on paper deleting is cheaper than fixing the emissions.
There Is a lot of power to gain from a delete and tune, anywhere from 20-200 HP depending on the tunes, not to mention a more efficient engine, no def to deal with, and better reliability.
