No difference in how the steering wheel mounts between the models. Splines on the shaft and a nut. No special keeper, roll pin ect.
A trick to try, put the nut back on like far enough to almost have the steering shaft threaded end almost come out. Do NOT have it stick up past the nut. Using a buddy and you hold up/pull up/back (like the removal direction) as straight as possible or by yourself use your knees/top of your thighs hold up on the back side of the steering wheel as flat and even as possible.
Meaning set weird and get your thighs under the steering wheel and spokes (again FLAT and even), feet on lower part of dash? Or stack 2 cement blocks to put your feet on and give one good tap on the nut. Again make sure there are NO threads sticking out of the top edge of the nut. Hit it square, straight and like it owes you money.
Careful if thinking about some prying force might help. You have lots of pot/cast shift collar material around there. Plastic on the back side for the steering wheel. Plastic t/s switch.
