I have a 2015 F250 6.7 and we just went on a camping trip. I have a 35 foot fifth-wheel trailer and when we were coming home we heard a loud bang and lost most of our power. It turned out to be the DPF system. That was an expensive fix. Now I'm getting an exhaust smell in the cab and it seems to be cleaning the exhaust filter a lot! I read somewhere that the smell will happen when the temperature is cold out but I notice it no matter what the temperature is. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there anything I can do to prevent this?
Are you sure that the loud bang, and loss of power wasnt the cold side CAC tube blowing apart? that would also account for the extra regen's..... Its a common problem that many have had here.
I have all of my power back after the DPF replacement so I'm not sure. I am a little worried about pulling the trailer again and we're heading back out next weekend.
What does your turbo gauge do? If it moves, then you probably dont have this problem. Or the dealer may have done more than one fix based on the symptoms you mentioned. Problems with the DPF are not common at all. Here is a link to a long thread with photo's. Easy for you to pop your hood and take a peek
On the earlier models, the down pipe (cobra pipe) would loosen and leak exhaust into the cab. It can be tightened. Just an idea that comes to mind.
A lack of proper boost will product a lot of soot.
What does the boost gauge do at KOEO (on position but not started).
Yeah, that DOC/SCR/DPF unit is a $4,000+ nightmare.
