I have a 2015 SCAB with a back sliding window issue.
The top bracket came apart and the bracket and window now lean in toward the inside of the cab and of course lets water in.
Took it to the dealer who after a few days told me that my extended Ford warranty will not cover the problem and it will be $1100 parts and labor to fix it.
The service department also told me that they had never seen this issue before.
What good is an extended warranty ?
any of you folks had this issue with your rear window ?
The Premium ESP would cover the replacement, so either the dealer doesn't know how to get the approval or you don't have the premium ESP. If you do have the premium ESP the dealer needs to send a request for review and replacement because Ford doesn't automatically approve glass replacement.
The pricing looks about right for what I was told. The wires for the heater element on the power sliding window came off on my truck. Ford wasn’t going to pay for it, but finally agreed to do it if I would pitch in $200. I asked what it would cost if I paid for the whole thing myself and the dealer said $1200. I paid the $200....and this was when my truck was IN warranty.
Go on line to CR Laurence... makers of the window. Get a price on a new glass assembly. Use motor you have. Probably several hundred. Have body shop of your choice install.
Or just get a solid glass rear window and be done with it.
That’s probably what I would do rather than paying $1200.
I like the power slide options, but I don’t $1200 like the power slide option.
I even had had to think hard about fixing mine for $200. The slider worked fine, just the defrost wires came loose from the sliding glass. My truck is garaged day and night, so I’ll never need the defrost function on the window....but I knew it would bug me that something didn’t work.
I checked and I do have the premium version of the ESP.
I have sent the service manager a message to get him involved.
I never have liked dealing with a service writer, they never seem to work very hard for the customer
I haven't given up, the service writer is telling me that the part number they submitted is being rejected because it is not on the list of what is covered.
If you have the premium care warranty and it’s a design defect, your warranty should cover all but your deductible to fix the window or replace it entirely. I’m still under the original three-year 36,000 mile warranty and I had to have my entire rear window replaced, power slider and all. The rear defroster stopped working due to a bad soldering job by Ford. If it is a design defect like it sounds like you should be covered.
I am being told that they submitted several part numbers trying to get it through and were rejected.
I dont know if they had a data field on that screen for "defect"
looks like I will paying out of pocket for this one.
I do know this, if it breaks a gain I will find a way to fix it myself
My dealer tried to submit it several times too. I will add again, that after lots of back forth between Ford and my dealer, Ford replaced it (with me paying $200).
You might have your dealer try to get the same deal since they won't fully cover it.
