check engine light

1999 ranger 183 v6 3.0. The check engine light is on.Someone at a emissions inspection station got a read out saying in sufficiant egr flow.any ideas,or has anyone been thru this?70,000 miles on this truck.

I'd guess it's your DPFE sensor. Easy to fix yourself.

Most likely your DPFE (Differential Pressure Feedback) element, but check the hoses going to all the EGR elements. If it's an intermittent problem, then really check those hoses. They can have cracks that don't show or be losely coupled at the joints. I fought the same problem for a long time and I put on a new DPFE element but at the same time I fastened a coupling band around the hose and it cured the problem. I am not sure whether it was the hose or the DPFE element. So try the hose connections first. Good Luck!
