One thing to look before bolting it on is excessive wear of the throttle shaft rod, or actually wallowing out the carburetor body itself, it will cause a vacuum leak that can't be tuned around. Otherwise, clean it up and set it up according to Hoyle, and it will work great!
For those who don't want to watch the entire video (it's only 3.25 minutes, though) the carb pictured in the link above is a 2150 and the pic below is a 2100. There are other differences but the base shape gives it away instantly.
And; b-t-w; my Ford 360 cu. in. F-250 engine has a 2100 on it and works great. I doubt that the 390 would be much different. After all, what's 30 cu. in.? (insert your own sarcastic emoji here)
