CSD DP fit

I am running into issues with the down pipe fitting with my CSD T4 kit. Any advice?

What transmission do you have?

What is the problem?
Is it hitting somewhere, not lining up with exhaust?

I installed the CSD kit on my ZF6 truck and had zero problems. Some that have a 4R100 said they had to work with the DP a bit and others said they had no problems.

Any details you can provide would be good and pictures would be better.

Below is a link to my install video.

@Sous Thanks for the reply. I've watched your video and appreciated your knowledge and willingness to share said knowledge.

We might have resolved the dp issue.

I have a "bullet proof" 4r100 w/billet tc, 6.0 cooler, and synthetic fluid.

My new issue is the intake y pipe fitment. Also, the amount of flakes inside the y pipe casting was unexpected.

Looks like mine. I used a small diameter phillips screwdriver as worked it on.

Good to hear that you have resolved the DP issue.

As for the Y-pipe, I put the boots on the plenum loosely so that they were barely on. The I put the Y-pipe ends into the tops of the boots very loosely and then massaged them together nice and tight. Then I installed the clamps.

I tried a few different ways before doing it this way and I got it on the first try like how I described.

It is worth the effort, keep at it!

@Sous thanks I’ll try that technique.

Did you run into casting issues with the y pipe?

Such as? Mine looked good, no porosity. I drilled and tapped for a boost gauge fitting. My DP fitment left a little to be desired, and the pressure side CAC tube bend and the turbo needs to be tweaked yet.

The intake Y fits just fine. From what I can tell its the same casting as the Hypermax except it says CSD. You will need to work it in but it will go no problem.

The other option you have is to cut up the stock intake Y.

I did not see or notice any casting issues with the Y-pipe. I looked over everything very closely as well as you can probably tell from the video. I had it laid out on the floor on the blanket and looked at everything like it was Christmas and I had just gotten a new toy. I had waited a long time to get the CSD T4 kit and was excited that it was finally in my possession.

Unlike Dan V who drilled and tapped the Y-pipe, I used a 2 way fitting for the MAP and boost gauge which can also be seen in the video.

@ASCn8 I hope you had good success in getting the Y-pipe installed with the method I mentioned. Once I did that it was very easy and fit well. It has been there since and has not budged at all.

To install a stock spider I find if you begin with one boot on the spider and the other boot on the plenum the initial alignment is better. All clamps off or floppy loose. Should work about the same for that Y pipe.

I got the y pipe on but am in no way satisfied with the fit. When I set the y down onto the plenums (without boots) it didn't line up at all. The y was wider than the plenums by an easy 1/4" per side. I think this could be because of the plenum inserts I have. The clamps barely fit on the boots and sit crooked. I'm gonna try and run it as is and see if they blow off.

The next issue is the new intercooler pipe. It also doesn't seem to line up well. It seems like it is 1.5" short.

I don't understand how something that is a "kit" fits so poorly.

On the plus side I did turn the motor over for the first time in 4 weeks so that was nice.

Honestly this CSD T4 kit has left a lot to be desired so far.

Sorry for the bitching.

You described the Y fitment perfectly. It's a non issue.

The cac pipe...try calling Carson. I had one that was a hair long on the intercooler side but that was easy to trim.

I seem to remember the Y-pipe not lining up exactly as weel, but the 1/4" or si it was off did not affect how the plenum and Y-pipe clamps fit. At least on my truck.

As for the IC pipe, you sure you have it routed properly?

The pipe fit quite well on my truck. Do you have the compressor clocked low enough to meet the IC pipe?
