It's spelled "orifice" and your truck doesn't have one (in the A/C system, that is).

The orifice tube was on the pre-1997 or the trucks with R-12. It was a tube like screen that caught dirt before going back into the compressor. Sometimes these tubes would get clogged and the system wouldn't cycle.

CCOT systems were used on the F150 for a decade and a half after the transition from R12 to R134a. The purpose of the OT was to meter the refrigerant into the evaporator core at a controlled rate. The screen was secondary and was there to keep trash out of the orifice.

Ford switched the F150 to the TXV starting in the 2009 MY.

Yes..... the compressor suck Freon ( or other) at about 40 psi and pressurized it to about 200 psi. The " Freon" is then sprayed thru the orifice and expands back to a low pressure. The rapid expansion makes the temp drop to 30 degrees or so......the fan blows cab air over the "COLD" coil for the truck...... the purpose of the orifice or small hole was for rapid expansion to make the gas COLD... due to its size it was also a TRAP for any crud in the system..... the hose might be 3/8 inch and the orifice might have been 1/16..
