I notice that when I step down off of the step, my soles tend to snag on the lip of the plastic trim that is the "top" of the step. My only solution so far is to be conscious of it when I use the step.
Great. JUST GREAT! Wait until the GMC guys get ahold of this. I can see a commercial with a car lot full of new GMC trucks with their new toy bench tail gates flapping up and down like they are laughing.
Unfortunately my trim is also loose. Not as bad as your but one of the clips does not attach properly anymore. I'll replace it at some point I guess but just going to live with it for now as it may happen again anyway.
Mine is too new to have this occur...yet, but I looked at a parts diagram, it appears that the step is an entire assembly $1085/$716, I do not see where the trim piece is available separately...I will likely install some stainless steel hardware, shouldn't be visible unless the gate is down...
I notice that my tailgate catches all types of debris. Sounds like a couple of handfuls of pebbles and rocks in it when opening and closing it. Tried washing it out and partially taking it apart and there is still a lot in there.
