Considering the installation of CB radio and antenna. Wondering what others are using in terms of both the radio (make/model & features) as well as antenna mounting options. If you've got one (CB), please share your experience including photos if available and the pros/cons of your installation.

Thanks.
I've got a Uniden Pro520 XL, that my Pops gave me that is about 20 yrs old and it works swell! For price point new that model is best bang for the buck, also has good reviews all over the net. Firestick makes great antennas for hard mounting, I just 3m'd a small steel plate in my truck bed to make use of my magnetic mount Wilson for right now, until I do a hard mounted setup.
Had an older Uniden and it worked OK, other than the mic dying. Got a newer Uniden 880 and it lasted about 16 months. Got a new Cobra 29 LTD CHR and a 29 LX. 3 years later, going strong. I'm done with Uniden.
Make sure you tune your antenna and dial in the SWR. If you don't know what that means, you're not ready to get a CB radio.
I always get a 4' Firestik fiberglass antenna with a tunable tip. I also get a model-specific hood mount. Use a
coax. Super convenient dimensions on that cable. I also grab a cheap 5-10W PA speaker and run that at the same time. All decent CB radios have a 3-5W PA output, so may as well use it.
I haven't installed one in my SD. I probably won't, as I can see no convenient + acceptable mounting location in a console truck.
Good luck.
I don't have any experience with the connex brand, but someone posted this in another forum:
