Several years ago I bought lincoln 140 before they came out with dual voltage and for a little while I did not like it at all but I slowly came around to how it welds and I really like it now, especially for tacking things together and thin metal. One thing though is these little kitchen welders I call em, do not tolerate any paint, rust or stuff like that the metal must be clean for them to work properly. That was my problem when I got it, even a little rust or paint screws the weld up as they do not have the power to burn thru to the metal which is the same thing that makes them great for thin metal and small projects.. The thing about using gas is you can see what you have when you finish welding, much cleaner welds..
I've been really pleased with the Eastwood MIG 135 I purchased about a year and a half ago. I had absolutely now experience welding and can do some satisfactory work. My son however after his first year of welding in HS has really gotten pretty good, so I let him do most of our welding.
Ditto on what has been said about gas. A real time saver on clean up.
My son keeps begging for a bigger welder, but with no shop or 220 this will have to do. Plus we aren't that far from his HS so he could probably use theirs if needed.
