Attempted Tail Gate thief King Ranch Missing Cable PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!
Hello everybody. I have a 2017 Ford F-250 super duty and somebody cut the wire hardness from my tail gate, to steal it. There is only 7 wires coming out from the hardness and 9 cable going to the relays. The two cables that are missing are
brown / green stripe
And Gray / brown stripe
Is there something else they took? Like a sensor.
Anything will help thank you.
The one on the left is the side that goes to the camera and remote lock. 7 cables
The right side goes to the relays 9 cables.
can somebody go under the truck and tell me what those two cables lead too. it is the hardness to the tailgate camera and remote lock.
thank you so much. hope everybody can help me.
I have a 2017 F350 Lariat (non-ultimate package) dually. Not sure if they'll be exactly the same but I'll take a couple pics tonight when I get home if no one else has hooked you up by then. Pretty lame about the thieves - sorry.
Could they not be used? I only ask because I worked on a non automotive electrical equipment and we had 2 spare wires (white and brown coincidentally) that we didnt use but were wired.
Believe one of the 9 conductor cable is P/N HC3Z-19GR40-J $933.80 (U.S $) data highway cable to the camera, which may explain why a tailgate is so darn expensive to replace.
Was looking to add a back up camera on my 2017 F350 / NorthernLite truck camper, when traveling without the tailgate and was quoted this cable, as an accessory to the backup camera. Elected go without the backup camera.
Problems with the Ford data highway in this F250/350 is a real nightmare, as my 6.2L defaulted into the limp home mode when it experienced intermittent communications.
The dealer had this cable in stock. Hate to ask what they would wanted for the other cable.
what is weird gary from the tail gate there is 9 cables. which is what i need. but three cables are heat shrink together and become 1 turning those 9 cables to just 7.
it cant be because the cable is cut like it was connected to something. what i am thinking is that those two cables connect, connect to one of the 7 cables. like 2 cables connecting to 1 one. i just dont know which color to connect them too.
I would make a police report and turn it in to my insurance! If the cable is $900+, I'd make a claim in case there was more damage than is obvious. Then you will have the cable replaced and any other damage repaired correctly! Damn I hate thieves!
If your deductible is less than a $1000, your going to come out ahead. Good luck!
My guess is the black cable is the coax data highway cable. Camera needs power. There are some solenoid locks on the tail gate. I would let the dealer make determination if the cables are repairable. This 2017 should also still be under factory warrantee.

Ummmm, if his deductible is less than a $1000.00 dollars he’ll come out ahead?
Are you sure about that?

I don't claim to be a mathematician, but that statement also had me scratching my head. The deductible would have to be much less than $1000, like zero or a couple hundred maybe to make it worth an insurance claim. Not worth the ensuing premium increase if the insurance company will only be paying for the relatively small amount over your out of pocket portion.
But if it fell under comprehensive there may be a low or no deductible. Never had a claim of this type so I'm not sure which part of the policy covers it.

Poncho450, I was thinking the exact same thing.
Far too many people think that having a low deductible is a good thing.
