Poncho450, I was thinking the exact same thing.
Far too many people think that having a low deductible is a good thing.
Last fall I had a friend rake the bed of my truck down my mailbox while he was turning into my driveway. Estimate $1300. My deductible $500. I decided to pay out of pocket instead of having the insurance company shell out a lousy $800 and then jack my rates up.
Final tally came to $1150 so I just bit the bullet and paid up myself.
guys the cable 1000 dollar cable does not have to be replaces. i just need to connect two wires that i don't know know connect too. just need somebody with the 360 camera system to check and let me know.
I can't help with the cable, but it is worth checking your insurance policy. This is not collision damage so the deductible may be a lot less than you think. Splicing the cables won't have anywhere near the life expectancy of replacement cables unless you are very good at it.
And for common nomenclature you have a 7-wire bundle or cable on one side and a 9-wire on the other.
these are the two wire harnesses that go to the tailgate. Wires heading left on the picture go to the tailgate and wires heading right go into the frame. Left side of the picture would be the rear of the truck.
The bottom wire is the one for the camera and Ys in with all the other cables going into the frame (right side) and Ys into the all the other wires going to the tailgate.
There are more cable cable going to the tailgate from the harness than are coming into the harness from the frame routing.
It it looks like the thief’s cut out the 2 wire harnesses. Hope this helps. Not sure where the extra wires go but there’s a bypass obviously in that harness.
Looks more like Vandalism than a theft attempt, they cut out the connector in a way that may not have left them much wire to connect to. Or someone is updating the tailgate to one that has a camera and need the connector for some reason. Your probably going to need to buy the harnesses due to the cut coax connection. And the twisted pair is, I believe, A network cable.
Hopefully you can figure it out. I’m glad the pictures helped. For the guys that responded with the insurance replies: OP asked for pictures to help him wire up a fix. If you left a reply about deductibles, you did not help at all. Please, to make these forums better in the future, answer or provide the information requested. It took the same amount of time to actually take pictures of the wiring as it did to type out the reply about insurance deductibles. Read info, process info and reply with info. Not trying to be a dick but come on now. We are on these forums to help a person in need.

Did you ever consider that those posting about turning in an insurance claim were trying to help the guy get a factory or dealer type fix without paying out of pocket?
If you're worried about topics that occasionally veer off course, you'll be pissed at most any internet forum on any subject out there. What's not needed here is another forum cop, the current moderators do a good job.
Ummmm, if his deductible is less than a $1000.00 dollars he’ll come out ahead?
Are you sure about that?
Vandalism or theft is covered under comprehensive and comprehensive claims does not hurt rates. Therefore yes, if his deductible is under $1,000, he comes out ahead. I'd much rather have the harness replaced then Micky Mouse it together. Now warranty may not cover certain failures with a harness pieced together.
I would make a police report and turn it in to my insurance! If the cable is $900+, I'd make a claim in case there was more damage than is obvious. Then you will have the cable replaced and any other damage repaired correctly! Damn I hate thieves!
If your deductible is less than a $1000, your going to come out ahead. Good luck!

I'm sorry that I assumed in my original post that everyone would know that if an insurance claim was made, it would be under comprehensive ( No Accident} and it doe not raise your insurance premiums unless you have made multiple claims in a year. As Fordplatty said if you splice the wires in the cable together and you have a problem and Ford can blame the damage to the cable as causing the warranty issue, they will have an excuse not to honor the claim, Hope it works out for you 305.

+ that. And consider changing to a $250 comp deductible (or $50 like what I have); the premium difference is typically a few dollars every 6 months.
