Adaptive Cruise Control Win???

I was driving on a pretty remote single lane highway a couple days ago and there is a section of highway that drops down to 80km/hr due to a turn off to a reserve. I was bucking along at 110km/hr and the truck automatically slowed me down to 80km/hr. I did not touch a damn thing, not the brake pedal, not the cruise buttons, not even the volume **** for the radio. Adaptive was set at the lowest gap spacing and the only vehicle I saw was the cop hiding around the corner of the tee intersection after I passed it. I even had a witness in the truck for this event cause I looked over at my coworker and asked why the hell the truck was slowing down. I said look, I’m not touching anything. I never slow down for that intersection because in the 100kms of highway or so, normally I only see 10-20 other vehicles and never a cop. I think the Ford Gods helped me out that day. I’m not heading up that highway again anytime soon but I will paying more attention to see if the truck slows me down again. The truck has never slowed me down for any reduced speed areas in the past.

Should mention that where I normally drive, the navigation screen rarely shows the speed limit. I was in a different province and the speed limit is always shown on the navigation screen

I’m glad it worked out for you, but adaptive cruise does not use navigational inputs, nor the camera to read speed limit signs in determining the speed to travel. You set the speed you want to travel, and it simply uses the radar on the front to determine your set distance from any vehicle in front of you.

With that said, I’m glad whatever glitch occurred prevented a speeding ticket.

I’m not sure if ford’s ACC uses lidar frequencies or radar frequencies but perhaps the police was using a speed detection device on the same frequency and when it was aimed at your truck it confused the ACC receiver.

Totally guessing here, but I suppose it *could* be possible.

I know how the adaptive cruise works. It’s just really weird that it slowed me down to the exact speed limit and resumed with my set speed at the end of the 80 zone. One glitch at the perfect time. 👍. I wasn’t suggesting that the any equipment on the truck was reading speed limit signs. I’m not that guy. lol.

Another vote for what was said above - if you don't replace the track bar joints you will prob NOT have fixed the problem. Only installing a better stabilizer may cover that up for a while, but the wobble will return.

It would definitely be the dog at my house - one dog in particular!
