Aggressive cruise control

I'm asking this question for my cousin who has a 2015 lariat with the 5.0 and he says that when using cruise it's very aggressive on the acceleration using the resume. It stays in second gear til 60 mph. Does anyone else have this? Is there a way to adjust it so it's an easy steady acceleration?
thanks

Well I have a 17 with the 10 speed. Mine is fairly aggressive on resuming speed but not to the degree you're describing.

If you're more than 10 MPH below the set limit, most cruise controls are relatively aggressive to get to the set speed.

What I typically do is accelerate at my pace until I am within 3 to 5 MPH below the set speed (or at "about" the set speed), and then hit resume.

I agree on all points.

But, if his is holding 2nd then maybe he has it in Sport mode?

Never thought of that; or the truck thinks it is sport mode (i.e. uncommanded).

I`m sure the aggressiveness has a lot to do with how slow he was going before the " RESUME " button is pressed and like the other poster said, if the transmission is in the SPORT mode, the acceleration might be more harsh compared to the non SPORT mode.

Every vehicle I have ever owned, since 1978, has had an "aggressive" cruise control. If you are going above 40-45 and hit resume for a speed above 95-70 mph it will get there as fast as it can. Because that is the speed you selected, that is where it wants to be. If that's to quick for you then get within 5 mph accelerating at a speed that is comfortable for you then hit resume.

Look at page 224 in your owners manual, the truck has different behaviors,
if you have the distance indicator set @ 1 bar, cruising @ 62 MPH the truck acts like it's in sport mode, At the same speed with the max following distance it states the vehicle dynamic behavior is "Comfort mode". I assume (yeah, I know) that has some of the cause for the aggressive behavior.....? Not completely sure and I haven't tested it personally, or I could just apply to braking behavior...

Only the 502A option has that if he has 500, or 501 As I do we do not have adaptive cruise control.
