Good points, but I don't have a turbo. I do know that the 6.2 motor does not like dirty filters. Power loss is very noticeable. Install a fresh filter, and its like a new truck. But where I live that doesn't last long, and there is no way I am putting in a $70 filter every 2500 miles. I am looking at this from a purely monetary perspective. One test is great, and maybe thats all you need to be a believer. But I find it hard to believe that for as long as K&N and the other aftermarket filter companies have been around, that a properly maintained K&N filter doesn't work at least as well as a stock paper filter. I'm not loyal either which way, I am simply looking for the most reasonable solution to filter maintenance for dusty areas. Good healthy debate, thanks for your point of view.

I saw that there is now a filter sock you can put over the KN air filters now. It’s not available for most vehicles but they sell the material so you can make it work. That would be a good idea in extremely dusty condition. I have the same view as washable air filters as you do.

Dusty conditions is a myth.....been using K&N since the 1980s on everything I own, and throttle bodies, Carb throats, air intake tracts are perfectly clean. Heck, even the intake valves are cleaner as no dirt gets to stick to the wet fuel on the valve. I've never used carb or throttle body cleaner, ever. That's what cotton with a light weight oil does, collect dirt. And yes, if your turbo has an easier time sucking in air, its response and spools up will be faster. Big power, no. more power, yes, but who cares............we already have over 900 lb ft of torque.
