K&n

How often do K&N air filters need to be cleaned? My truck just turned 15000 miles. The filter been in since about a month after I bought the truck new.

The paperwork for mine says every 50,000 miles. More often if under dusty conditions.

i dont think you have to clean them very often, most the dirt just gets sucked right through!

The last thing you want to do is "overclean" a K&N. If you remove the oil and the thin coat of dust, they can pass dirt through the filter too easily.

I'd leave it until it becomes visibly dirty or clogged. If you clean it too much the cost defeats the purpose of installing it IMHO.

Also, if you plan on operating in a highly dusty area, I'd look into a pre-filter element to eliminate the possibility of any dust getting through the filter.
