The rating of the tires is not the only factor here. The diameter of the tires directly affects the final reduction ratio of the truck which is also figured in to the GVWR.
Interesting you should mention this. I originally starting pondering this since I will need new tires in the near future. If I were to go with the LT275/70R18 tires (an option for my truck’s MY) over the LT275/65R18 the effective final drive ratio would numerically lower from 3:55 to 3:43.
This in and of itself does not affect the GVWR but I’m wondering if I would notice a 0.12 numerically lower final drive ratio while towing our fifth wheel?
