I have a 2012 F350 DRW. I was towing a 16,000lb fifth whee in tow mode and the cruise set at 65 mph. In the Ozark mountains in northwest Arkansas. Going down an average hill, the truck screams to over 5000 rpms and stalled. I got over to the shoulder, let the truck sit for a minute and she fired right up. The wrench light and check engine light stayed on for the rest of the 50 mile drive. The following morning all the lights were off. So.........WHY? I have towed in cruise control with other trucks.

2012..........with a 6.7 PSD, or is it a 6.2 gasser?
If it is a 6.7 P:SD you went WAY overspeed for that engine. You could have some issues with that. Best to get any stored codes and see what is going on.

This is what I was going to ask. 5000 for the 6.2L is not horrible. Still high, but within the RPM range for that engine (I'm pretty sure). 6.7L, definitely not. But still, yeah, get the codes read.
