I tow a 33' Thor Transport fith wheel, I use tow mode every time and cruise until I get to the steep grades as I like to be in complete control. I have had no problems and in fact she PURRRRRRSSSS like a kitten whith all the weight including the 4 quads.
tow haul works just great with cruise on. tomorrow in fact i will be using my work truck to pull a 9000lb trailer, and i'll be using CC and T/H on the highway.
I use the cruise with the T/H only on fairly level terrain, up and down hills I turn the cruise off. With the cruise on not much braking with the T/H on downhills and on uphills the engine spins a little faster than I like when it downshifts with the cruise on.
yankee88, I tow a 12k# 5th wheeler in cruise control (C/C) and Tow/Haul (T/H) whenever the road is fairly level. When climbing, I disable the C/C and go manual because C/C will try to maintain the selected speed even though the rpm's climb over 3k which can create problems. I find that when climbing steep hills, I try to keep the rpm's at 28k, which has been working very well. Maybe someone can chime in on rpm's vs speed when climbing steep hills in T/H. My truck is an '03 F250 Lariat with 70k miles, bone stock with the exception of the Banks 4" monster exhaust.
