Well, I guess after buying an installing a supposed to fit fleabay lower speedo cable, to replace my broken one, I’m going to have to try and order a factory one. Anyone had any luck with part number or vendor? I sure want my speedo back and it’s just hit or miss on fleabay and Amazon. 1984 f150 302 2v carb, auto. Thanks for your help.
Thanks guys. I guess I could actually just leave the cruise control part out of the equation as I cannot use it on ANY vehicle around here anymore. Haven't ever turned it on in anything in years. In fact, I disconnected the chain thing to the carb in case my son drove it and accidentally turned it on, in case it malfunctioned. As this truck sat for YEARS.....
I bought a pioneer or some brand off fleabay supposed to fit, but the inner core wire isn't same diameter as stock, and it turns inside the speed control electrical switch between upper and lower cable (and literally wraps my speed control and wires into a neat bundle). I didn't have to even get out of driveway to hear it wrapping around. So tired of half what I do I have to redo from incorrect info on ebay, amazon and parts store computers. Box stores will give you wrong stuff in a heartbeat too. Fortunately, it's not a hard or dirty job, fairly painless to redo.
ordered stock one from Dennis Carpenter, $24.95 plus 9.95 shipping. I was going to use free cellphone app speedometer, but decided that'd be unsafe for an old goober like me. Well worth $35 to not glance away when I shouldn't be. Plus, I don't like seeing new tech in old cars, I like things to look period correct if at all possible. Thanks again.
