Maintenance is always going. Lol just not preventative maintenance. Going to replace all exhaust gaskets and bolts and clamps all the way back I will keep the factory y for now and do a cat delete as well as new x pipe and back 4”? Or 3”?
Fixing to to pull the trigger on a SCT x4- 7015 as well as a induction air intake. Will the 7.3 aftermarket air induction intakes work on the 5.4 gasser? Websites say it will but I trust you *******s over any website any day! Thanks again everyone I know I sound like a broken record... thanks thanks, thanks lol I do appreciate y’all

And does it have the Rams Horn Y pipe? Do the Gibson headers come with a new Y pipe? Does this 5.4 have an EGR?
No factory resonators I do have factory rams Gibson’s ship with the manifold gaskets and bolts 424$ usd nothing else. No I have no egr on my ex

Cat delete will stink more than provide power. Factory piping is 3" plus already, changing to a free flowing muffler and the headers will be the biggest help. Otherwise you're just spending money.

Intakes are a waste of money, do the Zoodad mod and stick with a OEM filter.

Once again, I totally agree with Coop. A cat delete will do nothing for you other have your exhaust stinking, the factory 3" piping is pretty good stuff and the factory cold air intake is also pretty good.

Exhaust sound is a very personal choice. I have not listened to that muffler on a 5.4, but have you checked out the Jones/Aeroturbine 30303XL muffler? It sounds pretty good behind a V-10, not sure how it is on a 5.4.
And you are going to get some custom tunes for that SCT and not just use the "canned" tunes from SCT correct?

Yes custom tune with the exhaust and headers in mind is main reason for tuner not expecting magic just want to be sure everything is operating correctly and safely. I am hoping the muffler is aggressive enough that duals would be too much and a single sings to me ears just right but if not I’ll grab another one and go from there.

Update

Tuner and muffler arrived already and latest statement said headers will arrive within the next week, then it’s wrench time! I went ahead and replaced all the 20y/o shocks, stabilizer and bump stops while waiting on (Xmas) the August header delivery date. I went with rancho stabilizer and rears and then skyjacker fronts. Drives so much nicer I still have braking vibrations with hard braking and it’s still got a bit of bump steer but the difference is night and day compared to how it was and honestly I can’t wait to drive this fat girl in heavy wind to see if she still handles the wind like a sail boat. Boats n hoes!

(Rockauto)
Rancho rs5410 $47.79
Rancho rs5385 $47.79 (x2)
energy suspension 99155r. $22.99
49103r. $76.79
(Amazon)
Skyjacker h7023 $42.09 (x2)
SCT 7015 $354.95
Gibson gp126s-1. $398.69
Flowmaster 15430. $95.95

Here we go

Turns out my braking vibrations were coming from a failing front caliper. We’ll get that replaced after the headers are done. Headers came in so I started, one bolt broke down in the threaded area on driverside and one seized the other six were butter. now on to the passenger side oil drip and exhaust leak had been working it’s magic awhile as everything was notably more corroded two exhaust studs were already broke flush with the flange on the manifold, one broke down in thread area and two are seized, so tomorrow comes the bolt extractors. I might mention i found my oil drip is coming from the rear of the valve cover I imagine it’s the common hpof leak. I’ll replace that gasket too while everything is tore apart. Fun fun fun.

Ugh the fun

Passenger side one stud broke in the bottom of rear most cylinder waiting on drill and welder

Driver side same scenario one stud broke off in rear most cylinder waiting waiting

Shocks and bumpers

Anyone know if this is the correct mounting method for the Rancho stabilizer? I assumed the spacer was to allow room for the boot as it mashed against the boot with oem bolting method

Looking good. Not sure about the rancho stabilizer as I have a Bilstein with out a boot.

Have you seen the Lisle 68500 template for drilling 2V and 3V Triton Engines?

Gotta love it

First I tried two nuts backed against one another not surprised it didn’t work. Then I tried grinding a couple flats on the bolt so vise grips would grab but yet again nil. Then I tried welding the nut to the bolt where the flats were filling in the center where the flats were, nope. Busted out the angle grinder cut off the top where flats were and tried to drill the bolt but couldn’t get it to grab or eat at all. Turned my lil Lincoln 110 all the way up speed all the way down and filled er up again, it did hold better on the slowest speed but still broke the weld fairly easily and didn’t budge the bolt. I’m goin to try to stick weld it I guess dear lord baby Jesus let it work, in the meantime I ordered cobalt left hand bits, 8 day eta. And still will have to buy a angle drill because my angle grinder isn’t reversible. I’m thinking a quick trip to harbor freight for a angle drill some center drill bits and some cheap left hand titanium bits may be in the works for tomorrow. May try to grind on my center punch mark with the dremel bits, maybe I can get a mm or two in and the drill will be able to grab then idk I was hoping I didn’t need a guide but I will probably end up getting one trying to easy the pain a bit. Lord please give me the patience.

What kind of penetrating oil are you using?

Kroil is one of the best and may help.

All of the bolts have been religiously sprayed with pb blaster and liquid wrench on the daily for a week or longer
