Just picked up a '67 F100 with a 352 today. Took it for a nice drive. Runs pretty good. Right off the bat having issues with 2nd gear. 1st gear accelerates great. I can stomp on the gas no problem. 3rd gear same thing. But in 2nd the engine just revs and nothing really happens. If I let off the gas an let it shift to 3rd everything is fine. If I floor it and it kicks down into 2nd.. same thing. just rev's to the moon and doesnt do anything.
Anything that can be done besides rebuilding the tranny?
You can drive it like that until it fails, which may be a few days or even a few years, but according to what I have seen it will fail.
If you open it up, you might as well rebuild it.
^^ The OP's 1967 doesn't have a C6 unless the trans was swapped. ^^
1965/67 F100/350 352: MX Cruise-O-Matic, the squarish trans pan has 14 bolt holes.
C6 wasn't available in F100/350's until 1968, the trans pan resembles the state of Utah (has a notch in it) and has 17 bolt holes.
MX has a separate converter housing, the C6 converter housing is made as part of the trans case.
Pic showing the trans pan, trans case and etc C6 parts.
Thats exactly what mine looks like. Does this tranny have an adjustable band like the c6? Is there instructions somewhere on how to adjust it or do I need to send it off to the trans shop for a rebuild.

To those unaware, one A/T looks pretty much like another.
If your trans looks like this one, it's either been swapped into your 1967, or you don't have a 1967. This C6 wasn't available until 1968.
1967 looks like 1968/72, but looks can be deceiving. 1967's have dozens of ONE YEAR ONLY parts not used in 1968 and later.
For one thing, the doors are different. 1967: You push the inside handles forward to lock the doors, 1968/72's have door lock *****.
1967 only: Door shells, door lock remote controls, window regulators, inside door and window crank handles, vent frames and handles, door latches, door lock cylinder lock rod clips, armrests, door trim panels.
1967/72 same: Glass, weather strips, upper/lower hinges, outside door handles, door cylinder lock rods (but not the clips).
Look closely at the trans pan, if it looks like the one in the pic (post 5), it's a C6. But, if it looks like the pan in the pic below vv .. it's MX Cruise-O-Matic.

Thank you for all the info. I have a '73 bronco that is very similar in alot of ways but totally different in others. So I am sort of re-learning everything all over again.
Here is a picture of my pan.
The door locks work just like described. You push the handle forward. No rods.
SO I loosed the lock nut and screwed the center nut in until 10ft/lbs and backed off 1.5 turns and tightened the lock nut. I'll drive tomorrow and see whats up. The center nut was almost all the way out. It threaded in quite a ways before it made contact. Not sure if that means it worked itself loose.. or the band is just really worn or a combo of both. I'll drive it and see whats up but I'll probably make an appt at the tranny shop for an overhaul anyways.
Let us know how it drives (or doesn't) after the band adjustment.
Took it out for a while today.. No change... 2nd acts like neutral.
Strange thing is this.. if I start from a start and accelerate normal the truck works fine. Its almost as if it skips 2nd gear. The only time i have an issue is if I hit the gas to go into the kickdown or manually shift to 2nd.
Either way I have an appointment at a tranny shop. Going to let them rebuild it.

As others have said, since only 2nd is slipping I'm thinking it's toast; but, this might be worth a try... how's your fluid level?
