Originally posted by LabCab I figure it is easier to fill up when I hit about a quarter of a tank than to run out.
This is when I normally fill up, but I was in a rush and forgot. With diesel, especially in a colder climate, it is not recommended to let a tank drop below a quarter tank anyway.
This does bring up a point I have wondered about for awhile. Ford claims that the fuel system for the new Powerstroke is heated. Does anyone know any more about this? I do not imagine the tank is heated, but what about fuel lines?
There is actually TSB out on this subject. It is a kit for the old 7.3 that uses a device to heat the diesel fuel. I do not know if it is heated by antifreeze or electrical.
I tried to get them (dealer) to install it on my 01 and they said I would have to pay for it because Indiana was not one of the states that needed it.

Thanks! This is certainly something that I will look into.
