You need to check the window sticker for things you need

towing packages
snowplow package
5Th wheel / gooseneck prep kit
dual alternators
sliding roof and sliding rear bed window
4x4
4.30 rear
19 inch wheels with 10 bolt hub

these are the main things I wanted . I didn’t care if it was an xl, xlt, lariat, king ranch, platinum, limited

Mid your only by shopping trim level you need to really understand what your needs are. You can find a truck that will have options above or below their trim level.

Is there a good place to get the window sticker if you only have the VIN?

I've driven King Ranches that had fewer options than Lariats. So just getting a Platinum or King Ranch doesn't mean you are getting more.

You really need to compare options.

I do think you get slightly better leather seats when you buy either a KR or Platty vs a Lariat.

And on a '14 or '15 model, You don't have as much technology stuff. Blind Side, Adaptive Cruise, Adaptive Steering,, 360 Cameras, Rain sensing wipers, auto dim headlights etc as you can load on a '17 and newer

But you can see a KR or Platty with no Navigation vs a Lariat with. or Sun Roof, Chrome Package etc. It was easy to configure a loaded Lariat that cost more than a bare KR/Platinum So compare options

Engine Heater
Rapid Supplemental Heat
Navigation
Back up Camera
Tailgate step
Moonroof
Factory GN/5th wheel prep
20" vs 18" wheels
Dual Alternators

You may not care about these options, But they can be bargaining chips in the comparison

I'd check payload capacity if you plan on using it for hauling/towing.

Yep, the more optioned the truck the less available payload.

This. Most KR and Platinums are pretty well optioned, but they don't have to be. I chose Platinum over the Lariat for the better leather seats, matching interior dash pieces, and muted grill.

Lariats have wood trim around the center display, but gray plastic trim near the doors. This drove me crazy.

You realize there is only 400-ish lbs less in GVWR from a f350 SRW to a f250? I know it depends on year, cab style, 2 vs 4WD, but unless you are at max with the 250, going to a SRW 350 is buying you very little more. And then you are at the max., or very close on towing. I don't care for them as a DD, but if I were to make the leap, I'd definitely go dually over a SRW f350.

I've done a lot of new camper shopping recently, and GVWR on the camper is practically the first thing I look at. If the numbers on paper don't work, even if it's less than 10lbs, I'm walking.

BTW, I'd also go '15 or newer. I have a buddy with a Lariat and there's no difference in seats vs color and the thicker leather KR emblem on the center consul.

I did not realize there was that little difference. I was just surprised that options affected payload. It's more just that I want a 350

A lot of people are. My XL F150 has a higher payload capacity than my F250. Go figure.

Yeah right the yellow sticker is for licensing purposes. The total of both axle ratings is the real payload. And that number is conservative.

Ok, so is what you need on that list.’

for example , if your going to tow 5th wheels up hills and try to pass corvettes, that truck with a 3.73 rear is not your truck.
