Looking at buying a used 6.7 (preferably crew cab, long bed, 4x4, SRW)
What should I look for or look out for?
Also I haven't kept up with available options is there a comprehensive list somewhere?

What year are you looking at? Makes a big difference in what quirks are there and need to be looked out for. Only real constant is emissions equipment is a concern on all model years.
2011-heads were possibly bad, causing catastrophic engine failure, glow plugs were too long catastrophic engine failure, earliest model of CP4.2 higher rates of failure depending who you talk to
2011 to 2014- weak SST turbo, supposedly they upgraded the bearings in them for 2013 model year, it is difficult to find hard data on this
2015 to 2016 -upgraded CP4.2 injection pump, bigger/more reliable turbo, weaker transmission, not really important unless tuning it
2017 to 2019- upgraded parts and aluminum body, haven't heard of a lot of major issues other than emissions equipment, and that's becoming fewer and farther between as they continue to improve the systems

this is all subjective and somewhat opinion based, it all depends completely how the vehicle was taken care of by it's previous owner, sometimes it's hard to tell after a dealer sends it through the detailing bay or shop.

Look for coolant leaks, or evidence of, on all years. Maybe go so far as to get whichever one you like pressure tested.

A lot of the options cross over between models. Lariat and above are generally well optioned.

2011's had a bad valve design. It was a two piece design and if it came apart then the motor was trashed. The check was to pull the glow plugs. There was also a revised to the plugs from this and a bit of a resign of the heads.

Radiators are always a weak spot. Plastic.

There was a time when coolant leaks in the valley of the motor were an issue, resolved mostly by 2013. It was a resign of the connections for coolant to the turbo.

Personal opinion but steer clear of any truck that has been deleted or tuned. Possible indication of abuse and many dealers won't touch a deleted truck on trade-in. Illegal in some states and illegal in all states pertaining to federal law.

An inspection of all exhaust components is important.

The 6.7's are having issues with leaking upper oil pans from the factory. Even the 17+ trucks still have this issue. The bots are not applying enough silicone in the corners, which is causing oil seeping. Most will be repaired under warranty. Unless you crawl under the truck and look you wouldn't notice the leak (it's not enough to drip on the ground). Only reason I mention this is because it's a rather labor intensive fix to get at the upper oil pan.....The transmission has to be removed to access the upper bolts on the upper oil pan. We haven't had enough feedback from users if this issue returns later down the road or not.

Been looking at 2014+ with under 50,000, will be daily driver, some towing....sounds like I should look at 2015+

Well after being in my '99 for 12 years my' 14 Lariat has been nothing short of amazing. But yeah the 15s have a few upgrades.

I wouldn't discredit the 2014s. I don't think you'd notice any difference between it and a 2015+.

I just went through this with 2014, I was under and looked at it and swore it was the pan but turns out it was the vacuum pump gasket, It comes comes down right at dead center of the pan in front. It cost half as much to get it done (had to go back to Alberta straight from Louisiana) and they didn't have to pull the oil pans or trans. You do have to pull the fan and upper half of the shroud along with the serpentine belt

I can add some information around price. Two weeks back, I traded the 2015 Lariat from my signature. 75K and clean. Not a scratch on it for $38. Listed on the dealer's lot at $41 and has now sold. Truck had never pulled a trailer. Good truck with no major problems.
