I recently bought a 1973 f250 highboy and am in the middle of an idi swap. My main problem (for now) is trying to get power to the key. I also own a 6.9 idi and I have been comparing the two, the 6.9 has three different wires going to the hot side of the solenoid to start it, including the power wire from the battery. The wiring harness on my 7.3 only has one wire other than the power one. This wire splits into two wires later on, one goes to the alternator, and one is a smaller yellow wire. Can I just run a wire to the power spot on the key/ignition switch? How can I get power to my entire truck so things like lights and radio have power? Because right now I can touch the wire for the starter on a power wire and turn the motor over, but the key has no power to it.

Yes, just make sure you have 12V going to the ignition switch and then 12V IGN going to the starter relay

No need to change that wiring just hook up your batteries. They need to be run in parallel:
Negative (black) goes from the engine block to battery 1 and battery 2. Positive (red) from battery 1 to battery 2 and then to the starter.
