wiring

looking over the wiring on the 76 F150 i just got, and the battery keeps dieing, well there is a 2 amp draw when the truck is off, pulled all the fuses and nothing, so then i pulled this grey wire off the starter solinoid, and that was it, but when i do this the truck has absolutely no power to anything. they grey wire is spliced into the ig black with yellow stripe wire that comes off of the alternator? so waht is going on here?
thanks

Grey wire spliced into the main power wire ?

That's strange.

So ...How many wires are connected to that power lug ?

Is it actually spliced in or is it just wrapped in tape along side that black wire.

Take a closer look

I'm thinking grey wire is a possible replacement of a fusable link. If so your going to have to get into your harness a little deeper on this one.

no ti is definitly spliced into the other wire with a connector and everythign, the grey wire does say fusible link all along its length but someone could have just used some random wire that they had laying around

Get me a photo of it to look at .

Here's a schematic to show what should be hooked to that lug.
