Headlights got damaged from minor collision. Grabbed a couple from junk yard for a hasty repair. One is the conventional headlamp with wavy front, badly hazed. The other is clear front, but focuses light to a spot. Projector type headlight seems to be the way to go. But post #2 from this thread says all direct replacement projector headlights are useless. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17106922 The post was from 2017. Is it still true in 2019? Thank you.
I decided not to go with projectors on my 1999 F-150. I went with these combined with Hella Optilux bulbs:
The after picture. Anzo headlights and Depo fog lights with Hella Optilux bulbs (blue headlight bulb, yellow fog light bulbs).
I would say that I have about a 100% increase in light on the road compared to even freshly polished stock headlight/fog light assemblies. Highly recommend them.
Thank you for the note. I found the same style headlight in a thrift shop, not a pair, just the passenger side, $6 brand new with film. I wanted to give it a try. It was just installed. I will experiment it this week and report back. By the way, the old one was made of plastic, but this one is an aluminum casting. Is this designed to take the high wattage light bulb? Is Hella Optilux you used a high wattage type?
