Replacement Halogen Headlights (for those interested in upgrading)
The Silverstar is crap, as is any colored/tinted bulb. I had tried them and thought they were kinda cool. On dark roads they look good, but on roadways with street lights they don't put out much light. In drizzle and fog they just plain suck.
I have done quite a bit of research lately and have discovered that any colored/tinted bulb is a crock. It just reduces the amount of light that comes out of the bulb.
The general consensus is that GE Nighthawk, Sylvania Xtravision, Phillips Visionplus are the best options and to stay away from blue bulbs. The Silverstars output in lumens is actually less than a regular halogen. The whiter light just gives the illusion that they are brighter.
There are some other bulbs that are good, these are just the North America options.
So, for anyone interested in upgrading bulbs stay with a clear bulb. If anything do it for safety.
A good choice might be to upgrade to the harness with relays that gives more power directly to the headlights. I know a few people on this forum have done this.
