1994 F250 460 engine, E40D Transmission. While driving 40mph, transmission abruptly downshifted to 2nd gear. I stopped for school bus moments later. The transmission, while in "Drive", would not shift out of first gear. I manually shifted selector to 2nd gear which it abruptly shifted into 2nd. I shifted it back into Drive, it would not leave 2nd gear. Since event, I have replaced speed sensor and neutral/safety sensor. Neither has helped. I am not getting any codes. Any ideas?

Are you not getting codes on the CEL on the dash or not getting codes by using a reader or jumper? Sandy
Hi Sandy, the last code I got on a obd1 reader was egr related, 327 I believe, and shouildn't have had anything to do with the transmission I don't think. I did however replace the sensor which removed that code.

My last E4OD problem was caused by corroded capacitors in the computer PCM. Without codes I suggest you pull the PCM and inspect it since the E4OD is controlled by it. Sandy
