66 ford 300 knocking
Well today didn’t turn out so good as u can tell by the title, my 300 has been knocking very badly and there’s a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust, I’m surprised I made it home. I took the valve cover and sparkplugs out and everything seemed fine there so I’m guessing I bent a rod, suggestions/inputs?

White smoke with the "knock" sounds like bad Ju-Ju. Likely from the top, not the bottom. Make no assumptions until confirmed but dropped valve...busted piston...damaged head. A compression test will tell a lot.
My '68 302 had a minor tick.....
It was a loose No.1 piston skirt bouncing off the counter weight. What I'm getting at is these pistons sometimes come apart with age and mileage.

I did a compression test today and I only had 60,60,70,70,80,80(not in that order) and that’s barely more than half of what it should be from what I read online, we drained the oil and there was literally only a quart or 2 in there so I concluded that the oil leaked between the piston and cylinder walls causing it to burn very fast and then the low amount of oil caused the crank bearing to get screwed up causing the knock
