.... We set the cruise for longer stretches and around 70MPH it was single digits...mid 9MPG. At 65 or slightly below...12MPG. Slower speeds with the trailer are probably a good idea anyhow. ....
There are many factors that go into the MPG equation.
This graph is based on EPA and fueleconomy.gov statistics.
When I had the 4.88 gears and 32" tires I drove it unloaded to Savannah GA (700 miles, all highway) at 65 MPH and got 12.5 MPG, return trip was towing a Geo Metro on a car dolly at the same speed and got the same mileage.
Lol...Tom, your mileage didn't change because you weren't towing anything. Former Metro owner here.
When coming back from Iowa to Texas with two adults, 4 kids, and loaded down with one bad COP I averaged a 15.5 MPG. I was pretty impressed with 165K miles but it has been well maintained.
The good news here is....I didn’t buy my Ex for fuel economy. I bought it for towing/cargo capacity. My 5.4 V8 Expedition only averaged 9 mpg when towing our 7k TT.
