Got a reman transmission locally just waiting for a day off from work that I don't get called in to install it. Then I'll be going back to work as much overtime I can stand to pay for it. It worked out ok. My up pipes have been leaking pretty bad for a while. I've had a new set that I sprayed with 2000degree paint and cured in the wife's kiln (she wasn't happy about that). Procrastinated for over a year because they are a pain to install. Have a turbo rebuild kit I bought at the same time as I was going to attack it from above and my pedestal was also leaking. I suggest if you're going to do the transmission do the up pipes at the same time. With the transmission out it's much easier. Also if you're leaking from the inspection plate make sure it's transmission fluid. It could also be your rear main seal on your engine.
Got the transmission installed and have been running fine for a few weeks. Had to get used to having transmission that shifts right for a change. Two things I noticed. The first is that the transmission seemed to heat up faster than my old one, high 70s nothing bad, but more than the old tranny. This changed last weekend when I took it on its first interstate run over 70mph. I looked over and the tempreture suddenly dropped 15degrees in a matter of a few minutes. Been running cooler ever since, weird. The second happened today. The OD light started flashing on the way home. I didn't notice any problems with shifting, it just started blinking. Pulled the codes and got P0782 2-3 shift error. Haven't checked anything yet as it's raining pretty good at the moment. The transmission installed is remanufactured and was never installed on another truck. Numbers match and it's the right one for the truck. Prior to install I flipped it over and was going to install a transgo/sonnax stuff only to find it was already installed. Looked like the full HD2 kit. Don't know if this could create an issue, never heard of it. The solenoid pack was new or rebuilt aftermarket as well. When it stops raining I'll check the connections on the pack to see if water got into it. The foil tape that was wrapped around it got tore up during the removal and reinstall. If anybody has any other ideas let me know.
