So I have my f150 and I want to change the sound of it overall, how can I do so? I'm looking from something more deep and narly, I really want it to sound like a beast, any suggestions?
With your smog laws you may be out of luck. As an example, when the exhaust pipe broke off just behind the catalytic converter on my '88 F-150 with a 4.9 6 cylinder, it wasn't very noisy at all. Unless maybe there is such a thing as a reverse muffler that makes the sound louder. Well you can wish.
The pipe broke off in front of my muffler on my '85 E150 with a 300. It was so loud I was tempted to step outside on the drive back from Mexico to Pasadena.
Anyway, cat-back is pretty much the fastest, cheapest way to make more noise. The series 40 Flowmaster was suggested above, why not try that?
The factory cats on these trucks are pretty good at muffling sound. I have a single glasspack on my truck and disconnected the exhaust between the cat and the glasspack, and it sounded hardly any different.
If you are in California, I wouldn't mess with the exhaust or emissions equipment. California smog laws are insane.
