Question about engine mount fuel filter

I read somewhere on here that someone discussed about one of the Fuel lines going to the engine mount fuel filter broke somehow . I'm trying to get a to-do list of things that are known to possibly break . Thank you and goodmorning.

Yes, some have broken the clip or coupling/fitting. It doesn't appear to be a very common issue. I believe there is a replacement coupling/fitting. Not sure if local part house or Ford item.

Most people do acquire and carry with them a new frame filter cup with filters.

A.k.a there are clips that are breaking ....not clear if it’s the clip in the disconnect line or where the clip connects on the filter . It’s breaking becuase folks are not squeezing the disconnect before trying to connect it

a.k.a the fuel drain itself item needs repacking. There are two plastic points on the drain that act like stops...these often break and when broken it prevents the drain from locking into place.

That's a darn good price. It looks to be trending downward recently. If I didn't already have three sets of filters on the shelf I would add that to my cart!

That's where I've been buying them. You can't beat the free Prime shipping deal IMHO.

I've tried to find not the center for our fuel filter but the drain plug .

Ford calls the water drain plug a Fuel System Inlet Connector.

FC4Z-9J305-A supersedes BC3Z-9J305-B

Ford calls the WIF sensor a Fuel Supply Temperature Sensor

BC3Z-9T321-A

Strange names those engineers came up with....

The fuel filter cup I carry (p/n BC3Z-9G270-D) has both installed along with a new filter.

Thanks for proving me right and providing the link with correct part number, Larry.

What say you on the BC3Z-9T321-B * of the part number of the WIF sensor listed on dieselfiltersonline as opposed to the part number you list, BC3Z-9T321-A?

* https://www.dieselfiltersonline.com/...er-diesel.html

I still have to get a spare housing part #FC4Z-9G270-A with drain plug and WIF sensor already mounted for the tool kit in truck. I would use this because my truck is a 2016 which has the date of 04/16 on the door sticker. This Information is listed on their site:

"FC4Z-9G270-A Ford fuel cap for lower fuel filter for Motorcraft FD-4615-Ford 6.7 liter diesel FROM 5/25/2015-7/5/2016

This cap fits from the following dates. 5/25/2015-7/5/2016

Prior to 5/25/2015 it take a BC3Z-9G270-D"

Since you are the one with the factory manuals, is this correct Larry?

The B supersedes the A part number but either will look it up on most Ford part sites. Some dealers may stock the "A" and not the "B" part number until "A" supply is depleted. Either "A" or "B" will work in either cup I would think.

https://parts.autonationfordwhitebea...LTlUMzIxLUE%3D

Ford dealer recently replaced my DFCM/fuel pump within the last 6 months. I just inspected it and it has the BC3Z cup. Also, Ford parts only shows one fuel pump for the 2011-2016 trucks, BC3Z-9G282-E.

So, the confusion continues as to why there are two filter cups?

The appearance of the BC3Z and the FC4Z cups looks stark but highly suspect they will interchange with no problems. The FC4Z appears to have a larger water collection area and the "nut" is recessed. They both use the same fuel filter, so go figure.

Here are some photos I found of the two cups.

BC3Z cup prior to 5/25/2015 build date.

FC4Z cup for trucks built 5/25/2015 thru 7/5/2016.

You da man, Larry. Thanks. I couldn't remember which one I had for sure so I went outside to look. I do indeed have a FC3Z with the larger "bowl" area due to my truck being a 2016 with a manufacturing date of 04/16.
