So as I "joked" about the wife wanting to steal the 2001 Ex I bought myself as a build project/toy a year ago when I got my "new to me Ex".
My daily work driver, a 2002 Explorer, has trans issues, not worth the usual shop fees of $3k to fix to me.
My buddy who is out of town that has a trans shop helped this happen. He will fix for chump change when he is off racing circuit that just started.
I told her I can buy a cheap **** work vehicle, or you can get a new suburban or a decent Ex if I can find one and I will take the EB Expi as a work car.
Our first choice to look at sold before I got off work, a 2002 with a 2005 interior v10.
My second pick was a suburban premier, she said no cause it was not a Ford. Gotta love her for brand loyalty!
My third pick was a rust free salt belter, fully optioned 2003 diesel Ex with 100K.
So far minimal small stuff on a super clean truck, no rust shockingly for the area, maintenance book filled out to with in 5k miles of my ownership.
Momma bear refused to look at a Suburban, or a V10 Excursion.
Now the wife has an excursion with every option ever offered and just has to remember it takes the green stuff.
So happy new to her Ex day!
Still surprised she went for the diesel, not that we didn't get a killer deal on it.
Congrats on the new wagon! Pictures..........?
Since it's an '03 and doesn't have that horrible gas V-10 engine (actually either of them) which of the PSDs offered that year does it have?
6.0s, especially early ones, don't have a big following so they're often cheaper than other options. There's a reason that the same year or older 7.3 Ex is double the $. If you haven't already, read up on things to watch for so you might catch problem warning signs before they become a huge problem. It's a great engine when it's running right and the trans is pretty awesome. I love my 7.3 and have great confidence in it, but a good 6.0 is better.
