My sons HPOP reservoir developed a crack along the edge of the EOT sensor. A good oil leak is leaking from it. I know the best thing to do is to replace the reservoir and be done with it. We are looking to get one. But because of a time crunch (prom) I was wondering if anybody felt or thought that a good epoxy/sealant of some type could be a temporary fix. My thought was that if I could clean up the area with my dremel that a good epoxy sealant might hold up. We have not been able to find a reservoir locally and I dread even calling the dealer for a price. What do you think? Bad Idea? Recommendations?
If you clean it up really well and use some of the gray Ford sealant like used for the oil pan it might work. You can get it at a dealer or from Diesel o rings online.
Something else like Permatex Right Stuff might work as well if the Ford one is not obtainable.
Thanks Gentleman, I found a used one at a diesel shop. Will see how it works out. I would rather go new but the dealer wants 300.00 for one and it would be in tomorrow, maybe. Already have a new gasket for the bottom part. Thanks again.
If he put in a new gasket and didn't use the same one that came with it they will crack. Like putting the one with the screen in when it didn't have one before.
