Front driver side wheel squeaking

Front driver side wheel squeaking
1996 F250 Two Wheel Drive. I am hearing a squeak coming from the front driver side (what sounds like) wheel. It speeds up as speed increases. When turning left the noise goes away, turning right the noise continues. When I brake the noise completely stops.
I jacked up the truck and checked for play (12 o Clock and 6 o Clock) in the wheel and it is solid. I don't think the bearings are bad. I removed the wheel and spun the rotor and heard no squeak at all.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This happened to me, my adhesive wheel balance weight was ever so slightly rubbing on the rotor when the front passenger wheel would spin. I removed and re-located the inside adhesive wheel weight and that eliminated my noise. You might check yours if you also have the same type of wheel weights that are stuck to the inside your wheels.

Mbizzal,
Another other than mechanical fix thought as I think about this. Have you spayed your body and suspension bushings lately with a silicone aerosol spray? If not, you might try, I spray mine twice a year, the front sway bar can create squeals if the rubber mounts becomes hard and brittle. Another bushing to be sure and spray silicone is the twin I-Beam center bolt with bushing. It seems to improve the ride and handling a noticeable degree for a period of time after I lube (silicone) my suspension bushing. I also do my leaf spring shackle hangers. You know the old saying and practice, "mines well since I'm your it".

Another suggestion is something that I had happen. My dust shield behind the wheel was bent just a little from work I had done. I found the noise by jacking the wheel up and turning it like you did but with the wheel on. Simple slight bend and it was gone. As a matter of maintenance I would do as EQCMCAT suggested with the silicone also. Sandy

I will try the silicone spray.
When I jacked the truck up I spun the wheel first and then without the wheel. I heard nothing both ways. With the sound coming from what sounds like the wheel and speeds up with speed. I am thinking bearings but there is no play. Might just repack them to see if that helps.
Would braking hold the hub just enough to make it quit squeaking? I haven't changed a lot of bearings but hitting the breaks never stopped the growling sound don't think it would stop a squeak.
Always fun with a 23 year old truck.
