302 Oil Pump Direction

What is the correct direction the oil pump turn should on a 1998 5.0? I am in the process of priming the engine after a rebuild but I don't get any pressure reading at the gauge or from the pressure gauge fitting at the side of the engine where the gauge tube connects. I am turning the oil pump shaft clockwise with my drill motor as the motor builder said to do. I can hear the oil in the pan sloshing as the pump is turning so I know something is happening in there. I have been told it should take only a few seconds to maybe a minute to get pressure built up. My last session of turning the pump went on for several minutes with no pressure. Should this pump be turning counter-clockwise as I have read in some postings? If it should be turned counter-clockwise and I have been turning it clockwise, am I doing any damage to it?

The oil pump turns the same direction as the dist, CCW, run your drill in reverse, don't know about any damage you've caused to the pump.

Counterclockwise. turning it clockwise will do nothing to the pump.

Its CCW, the noise you heard was air being pulled through the galleries and into the sump.
