Block off plate

Thought I would share a small victory after a couple of failed attempts. I personally hate the look of the GINORMOUS AC units in these trucks so I got rid of mine with this snazzy block off plate. All credit to the people on this forum.

I am not sure how I will handle heater hose routing.

Sorry for the hanging wires....

Wow, should make engine maintenance a lot easier!
Are you using some kind of aftermarket A/C setup, or did you just get rid of the whole thing?

I just ditched the whole thing. The eventual plan is to get a non AC parts for under the dash to convert but that may or may not happen.

Route your heater hoses back into themselves. Get a pics 2-3 feet long so you can make the loop big enough to not collapse on itself.

Should be able to do it with whatever minimum amount of hose you see fit to use. Use Larry's guideline of not letting it kink, and you should be fine with whatever the length works out to.
Sometimes we have to deal with the limitations of what else is in the way and have to use longer runs. Sometimes you can run it almost straight up and over.

I don't think that there is any "siphoning" or "anti-siphoning" change from using shorter or longer runs, as long as they have flow.
And frankly, they don't even need flow really either! Since you're not feeding the heater core anymore, it really does not matter how much coolant flows, or does not flow through the hose. So even a kink is not the end of the world. It's just not "correct" and it's good practice to keep hoses un-kinked.
Should not change your cooling at all, and should not trap any air or anything else that could be temporarily detrimental.

At least not that I can think of!

Thanks for the great feedback Paul! I am planning on just running as little hose as possible from the top of the intake to the WP. I am hoping to have the truck back on the road in a few weeks.

You can just cap them also there is no need to link them to each other.

Very true! I've mostly gotten away from the practice based on all the negative experiences with fuel/vacuum caps and how quickly they deteriorate.
Guessing coolant caps don't have quite as harsh an environment, but we know hoses last a long time. So maybe if you like the caps, give them a try and see how they work. But if they start cracking and leaking in, for example a year or less, toss 'em and go to Plan-B (back to hose) and you should be good.

I can see how caps would be cleaner looking on some applications.
Show's you have options.
